In 2020 I met a French professor. He came to my country with his girlfriend (who is the best chef I have ever met) to volunteer with A Rocha a Christian organization focused on nature conservation. He was passionate about studying birds. He sought them out, photographed them and recorded his observations. When they were around, we used to have movie nights, and the next morning, we would head out birding around six. During their short stay, they inspired me to start my journey in birding. He left me in the capable hands of another professor. He taught me how to properly set up nets, extract birds from the nets, handle them while taking measurements, and release them. Under his guidance, I learned to identify species and have since identified over three hundred and fifty different species of birds. And that’s how my journey in birding began.
